Kashmir Conflict Explained. A conflict that could start WW3!!

Everything about Kashmir conflict in 10 points

In this article we are going to answer questions like-

Q.How was this conflict started?
Q.What will happen if India lets J&K to be separate nation?
Q.What do the people of Kashmir want?
Q.Who are the major parties?
Q.What is the current situation?

Everything in just ten points!

1. 1947 The year India parted from Pakistan. At that time Jammu and Kashmir was a princely state which wanted to remain independent and join neither India or Pakistan.

2. In September 1947 Pak planned to attack J&K,The then ruler Hari Singh also had to face internal revolts. Before he could get defeated, Hari Singh asked military help from India.

3. India promised to help him if J&K choose to join India. The Instrument of Accession was signed by the Maharaja, by which he agreed for J&K to be officially a part of India. Soon after the treaty was signed, Indian army landed on Srinagar airport. This led to the Indo-Pak war of 1948(also known as Kashmir war).

4.This matter was presented in UN and they demanded a vote should be held so that the inhabitants of J&K could decide whether they wanted to join India or Pak. But this vote never took place because Pak never took back its army that offended the Indian borders.

5.This war of 1948 resulted in Kashmir being divided into four divisions. Jammu and Kashmir is in Indian control while Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK in Pakistan jurisdiction.
Also India lost part of J&K in a war with china in 1962.The Trans-Karakoram Tract and Aksai Chin are now in Chinese Control.

6.The people of Kashmir can be divide into three groups- Pro-Independence, Pro-Indian and  Pro-Pakistani.
Pro-Independence: They don't need education, jobs or good living. They just want freedom.

Pro-Indian: They want Kashmir to be a part of India, they do exist but their voice is weakened by Army actions and terrorist groups around them.

Pro-Pakistani- Their logic is pretty simple. We are Muslims so we will join Pakistan.
7.What happens when some people of these groups take up arms? There will be violence chaos and deaths. Ultimately army has to intervene to rescue harmless civilians and maintain peace. The people of Kashmir should not forget that army is there for their security and it will help them as it did in J&K floods.

8.Now the most controversial topic is what do the people of Kashmir want? One simple answer- Ask them, let them vote and decide for themselves.
But still if we use the facts and apply some simple logic then dividing the state in three regions
Jammu , Kashmir Valley and Ladakh

We know that Jammu is a Hindu Majority region and Ladakh is a Buddhist Majority region hence the question of joining Pakistan doesn't arise.

Coming to Kashmir Valley, the general consensus is demand for Independence, not joining Pakistan.

And it is very difficult to have an independent Kashmir in such a turbulent region. As soon as it is granted Independence it would be either captured by Pakistan or worst it would become breeding ground for terrorism, i.e second Afghanistan.

9.The current situation in Kashmir is worsening, with the terrorists sneaking in and doing what they do the best that is spreading terrorism, is making the army pay for it. With the youngsters protesting violently the army has no other option but to use radical methods to suppress them. After all army is bound to follow orders. There is anger, violence and death in Kashmir.
10.The overall scenario is that the Indian Army’s, and the Indian government’s image is deteriorating, which can be very devastating for the future of J&K.

Conclusion- There is no applicable solution for this conflict. India's relations with China and Pakistan are deteriorating, making the situation in Kashmir worsen. Like the Syrian civil war, this situation is not going to ease out soon.
